Members of the Saint Francis-Bartlett staff and Saint Francis Auxiliary prepare to cut the ribbon on the Auxiliary's donation of glider rockers to same day surgery.
The Saint Francis Hospital Auxiliary is composed of more than 200 members of the volunteer staffs of Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett and Saint Francis Hospital. The organization raises money to provide items needed by patients and families at the hospitals. Auxiliary members recently had the chance to both give and receive.
The Auxiliary purchased eight glider rockers to be used for families in same day surgery at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett. As a gesture of appreciation, the same day surgery nursing staff held a luncheon to honor the Saint Francis Auxiliary. There was also a ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new furniture.
“We wanted to thank the Auxiliary for their generosity,” said Cathy Love, director of surgery. “This gift means so much because it comes from the Auxiliary. We can’t thank them enough for everything that they do for our patients and staff.”
Auxiliary members also received a pleasant surprise at the luncheon. Bartlett Lions Club secretary T.L. Carpenter presented a check for $3000 on behalf of the Lions Club.
“The Bartlett Lions Club is disbanding and had some remaining funds to distribute,” said Carpenter. “Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett is appreciated by the citizens of this community and we know the Auxiliary will put these resources to good use.”
“It’s very generous and means a lot to our organization,” said Pat Patterson, Auxiliary president. “This money will help us in our current project of providing assistance for low income patients in need of medication.”
