Just What The Doctor Ordered...

A message from your IMPACT Physician Champion…

On February 19, we will begin entering medication and other orders into our Computerized Provider Order Entry (CPOE) system at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett. To help communicate and reinforce the significant benefits that come with this major milestone, we are using the theme “Just What the Doctor Ordered” throughout the hospital.

These important changes to our workflow provide far-reaching benefits to our physicians, our nurses and other clinicians, as well as our community.

  • Physicians: You are assured that your patients will receive “just what the doctor ordered” because you are entering what you want directly into the computer. In addition, you can see if your orders are consistent with the latest medical practices and with your patients’ specific conditions.
  • Nurses and other clinicians: Our clinical staff members are assured the care they are delivering is “just what the doctor ordered” because they receive these orders electronically and know they were entered personally by the physician.
  • Community: The people we serve in our community will get “just what the doctor ordered” at our hospital because physicians will be entering their orders electronically and taking advantage of patient allergies, medication interactions and other patient safety alerts that are built into the system. And, there will be no handwriting questions that could lead to possible misinterpretations.

Many thanks for your diligent work as we are poised to go live with CPOE. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. This truly is important work, and your efforts will most certainly pay off through improved clinical and financial outcomes.
