(July 24, 2006 – Bartlett, Tenn.) Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett has received approximately $490,000 in additional capital funding for 2006 from its parent company to purchase advanced medical technology and fund patient care enhancements. The additional capital will be used for telemetry expansion and to purchase an additional surgical C-arm. “The C-arm is used to provide real-time image guidance during surgical procedures,” said Kem Mullins, Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett chief executive officer. “This additional equipment combined with our current C-arm will allow us greater flexibility in surgical scheduling for patients and physicians. The telemetry expansion will increase the number of beds available at Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett featuring continuous cardiac monitoring capabilities.” “This is very positive news for Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett, our affiliated physicians and our patients,” said David Archer, Memphis market chief executive officer. “We recognize that ongoing capital investment in our hospitals is critical to making sure they remain competitive in their markets, and we’re committed to helping them bring advanced medical technology and enhanced patient care to our communities. This is a significant capital infusion – one that will help Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett fulfill our company-wide commitment to deliver high-quality care, and maintain its status as a place where our physicians are proud to refer their patients. We are investing these supplemental dollars in a way that meets the health care needs of the community and supports the requests of our affiliated physicians.” The $490,000 earmarked for Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett is part of the enhanced capital investment that its parent company, Tenet Healthcare Corporation, is allocating to its core hospitals across the country in 2006. The company said it now expects capital spending this year to reach approximately $800 million, compared to the range of $550 to $650 million the company had previously committed to spend on capital improvements during 2006. Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett, part of Tenet Tennessee, is a 100-bed full-service community hospital in Bartlett, Tenn. The hospital, located at 2986 Kate Bond Road, opened on June 1, 2004 and is the first full-service medical center in its community. Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett features a wide range of medical and health care services, including emergency care, an intensive care unit, a family birthing center, cardiology, oncology and diabetes care. The hospital is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, the nation’s oldest and largest hospital accreditation agency.
