(August 8, 2006 – Bartlett, Tenn.) Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett will be offering a series of free back-to-school health education seminars. These seminars will help parents ensure that their children have a safe and healthy school year.
The first session will be “The ABC’s of a Healthy School Year.” It will be held at 6:00 p.m.on Tuesday, August 15th in the Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett Magnolia Room. Monique May, M.D., will discuss a variety of topics including immunizations, good sleep habits and safety tips to keep your child healthy throughout the school year.
On Monday, August 21st, Larry Duberstein, M.D. will present “Sinus and Ear Infections in Children.” Dr. Duberstein will discuss treatment and prevention of ear and sinus infections as well as effective methods of controlling allergies and asthma. The presentation will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett Magnolia Room.
Obesity in children and adolescents is a serious issue with many health and social consequences that often continue into adulthood. Obesity treatment and prevention at an early age is important. “Healthy Eating Habits for Children” will be the topic of discussion presented by dietician Lisa Abbay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 29th in the Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett Magnolia Room.
